Sidus Space, Inc. has ventured beyond its traditional hardware and satellite manufacturing, introducing their own Multi-Material 3D Printing Division. Leveraging MarkForged X7 printers and the OnyxFR-A material, the company has achieved a big leap in manufacturing structural support components. This achievement is prominently evident in the upcoming LizzieSat satellite, slated for launch in March 2024.
The OnyxFR-A material, integrating Carbon Fiber (CF) layers during 3D printing and boasting fire-retardant properties, surpasses the strength of traditional aluminum while significantly reducing weight. This departure from conventional methods aligns with the industry’s shift towards more efficient and versatile production techniques.
